Didn't 2010 come around fast?! I had a great break over christmas, much needed, but then out of nowhere comes 2010. And it seems that no matter how much planning we do, NYE can simply never go to plan...!
We decided it would be nice to go into central London this NYE, get right down by the London Eye and watch all the fireworks and celebrations. We even went down there in the afternoon to see where would be best to stand. So after checking out the place we came back and started the celebrations here whilst we waited for a more sensible time to go back into town (and to avoid standing outside in freezing temperatures for hours and hours!). So we decided that we should head back in at around 10:00pm ish, to still give us plenty of time to jossle into position by the river - how wrong could we have been!!
As soon as we got out of the embankment tube exit, London event organisation kicked in - they'd shut down every road leading down to the Thames and we were all to embark on a one-way route (must have been 50,000+ people!). Unbelievably it was SO busy it took over an hour and a half of being sent one-way in the wrong direction before we ended up in the middle of the City, probably a good mile away from the fireworks themselves, (where they had kindly put up a sign saying 'overflow fireworks viewing area full - watch the fireworks live on BBC1'!!!) so we ended up seeing in the New Year outside St Paul's Cathedral with not as much as a firecracker in sight, but it was still a great atmosphere - until some lovely chap decided to spray a bottle of bubbly over us all and I ended up wetter than a drowning duck - and the irony is that not even a drop went in my mouth!! Still, whilst NYE didn't go quite to plan, ahem, so far this year has got off to a great start! All our customers seem to have come back after their holidays and have wanted to keep their lovely tans maintained with our tanning mousse and moisture tan products, so we're pleased to welcome everyone back!
I hope you all had a great new year party, and that you'll all have a successful 2010. I'll be trying to blog a bit more often this year - that's my new years resolution. Well, I may as well do one that I'm actually not going to break...not eating chocolate is soooo 2009. ;)
